Vipassana Meditation

When we meditate, we aim to connect our earthly self to the almighty, a stronger force that binds our soul to hope and helps us free ourselves from the bondage of the earthly strings. When we do Vipassana, we aim to see things clearly, as they are. So the question arises, what is vipassana meditation?

Vipassana is the practice of observing the sensations of the body without actually reacting to them. You notice the sensations of the body and watch them. If you feel the pleasurable sensations, you observe and let them pass.

How to do Vipassana Meditation?

Vipassana is a ten-day silent retreat, where you say nothing for ten days where you see the nature of your mind.

Vipassana is refraining from killing, stealing, any sexual activity, dishonesty, and intoxicating substances:

It’s important to quiet the mind from all the feelings that bring a negative aura or attach us to the depths of worldly relationships. A quiet mind extracts the most benefits of the technique, so it’s important to engage in this meditation technique’s traditions completely. Additionally, the mediator needs to refrain from all forms of prayer, worship, healing techniques, spiritual practices, and religious ceremonies.

Vipassana Meditation Technique Means No Distractions:

The meditative practitioner must observe silence which means there shouldn’t be any eye contact, body language, written notes, or communication. Avoid communication until necessary at all costs. The male and the female spaces are separated, and both remain in their designated spaces.

Further, yoga, physical exercise, and other activities like reading, writing, and music are not permitted.

The Daily Schedule Of Following Vipassana:

Following the Vipassana schedule is broadly simple yet systematic. After waking up at 4 am, this is the schedule you are bound to follow-

Meditate. Breakfast. Meditate. Meditate. Lunch. Rest. Meditate. Meditate. Meditate. Tea break. Meditate. Teacher’s discourse. Meditate and sleep at 9:30. The duration ensures that students do not move their bodies at all during the time and duration.

As long as the student is a part of the meditation program, they cannot consume any intoxicating substance, including sedatives and nicotine.

Achievement After Successfully Doing Vipassana:

When you indulge in Vipassana, you step into a sense of self-observation to avoid the roots of all suffering and pleasures. You step into the freedom from craving and lust in any form.

In the first three days, you learn about mastering the dynamic nature of reality through breathing. The change of breath where you concentrate on the area below your nostrils starts from day 1 to 3

You start understanding Vipassana from the fourth day of the retreat, where the body has already attained a state of calmness.

You begin to notice the sensations of the body and allow them to pass.

So Vipassana is about you, being you. You understand the real meaning of your birth and experience, and till the tenth day, you are filled with harmony and gratitude for other living beings.
