The yoga industry has grown significantly over the last decade. According to a report by Yoga Alliance, the number of people practicing yoga in the US grew from 20.4 million in 2012 to 36.7 million in 2016. The global yoga market attained a value of USD 105.9 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow in the forecast period of 2023-2028 at a CAGR of 9% to reach USD 177.6 billion by 2028. This significant growth is attributed to increasing awareness of the physical and mental health benefits of yoga, as well as the increasing popularity of yoga-inspired activities, such as hot yoga, stand-up paddle boarding yoga, aerial yoga, and more. As a result, many individuals, including Kristy Austin, have risen against all odds and introduced new business ideas in the yoga industry. Additionally, the growing number of yoga studios, yoga retreats, and yoga-inspired products, such as clothing and accessories, has contributed to the booming yoga industry as well.
Born in Tarzana, California, Kristy Austin is an entrepreneur, TV personality, social media influencer, and certified yoga instructor. Similar to the mythical legend of the Phoenix bird rising out of the flames, Kristy Austin is flying high against all odds. She is well-known for being the sister of famous television personality, model, and actress Coco Austin.
As a child, Kristy was joyful with a bubbly personality. One of her first loves was yoga, to which she was introduced by watching and mimicking her mother doing yoga in the living room. However, it wasn’t until later in life, while giving birth, when she suffered a broken tailbone and was unable to walk for six months, that she truly began to understand all the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits that yoga provides.
Following that trauma, the now-mother-of-four has received multiple certifications in various yoga modalities, including Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, and Acro Yoga. Austin’s studies have expanded to include sound therapy and reiki. “Yoga is a powerful tool for helping one’s body find balance and inner peace. Through mindful breathing and gentle stretching, yoga can help to increase flexibility, boost energy levels, strengthen and tone muscles, improve posture, and reduce stress and anxiety,” Kristy explains.
Kristy’s yoga journey began with reading about pranayama, asanas, and meditation, which then later switched to a daily practice of Hatha, Vinyasa, Iyengar, and Ashtanga yoga, as well as studies in Acro Yoga, Fit Yoga, and Kundalini. She is also a Reiki practitioner, energetic, and a sound healer. Austin, along with her sister Coco Austin, has been practicing yoga for many years, “Goddess pose” is one of their well-known yoga moves.
Currently residing in Arizona, Kristy focuses much of her time now on hosting yoga events, health and wellness retreats, and speaking engagements. She has also recently collaborated with @MelodicYogi Art Gallery to create inspirational yoga art that incorporates appealing and flexible yoga poses.
In addition to her passion for yoga, Austin has made TV appearances on Ice Loves Coco, E! True Hollywood Story, Family Feud, and Celebrity Game Face with Kevin Hart.
Kristy Austin has proved that yoga instructors can help people to cultivate inner peace by taking them on a transformative journey of mindful postures and mindful breathing.
