The AFC was predicted to be a very big gauntlet in competition this NFL season, but it has not turned out as planned. It feels like the two best teams in the AFC once again are the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. After that, it feels like it is just everybody else in the AFC Conference.
The Cincinnati Bengals won the AFC last season, and the Tennessee Titans were the number one seed in the AFC last season. No AFC teams have yet to play in London NFL Games 2022.Who are some of the AFC Teams to watch out for moving forward?
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have a loaded offense from top to bottom, and it starts with quarterback Josh Allen. He has two solid wide receivers in Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis. Dawson Knox is a solid tight end for them, also. The running game is doing just enough.
Buffalo also has an elite defense that can also get after the quarterback. Gregory Rousseau and Ed Oliver are the anchors on that defensive line. Von Miller also has some game left as a veteran, and he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
The Buffalo Bills will most likely win the AFC East title once again this season. Sean McDermott is the head coach. Ken Dorsey is a tremendous offensive coordinator. Leslie Frazier is a very good defensive coordinator. The question will be, can they finally beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason or not?
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs have had to deal with other teams upgrading in the offseason within the AFC West, but the division still runs through them until further notice. Patrick Mahomes is still Patrick Mahomes at the quarterback position despite not having Tyreek Hill at wide receiver anymore.
Mahomes’s ol reliable is Travis Kelce. Kelce is one of the best tight ends in the NFL, and he is having a very good year so far. There hasn’t been a true number-one wide receiving option on this roster at the wide receiver position, but Mahomes is making it work otherwise.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire is more involved in the offense this year at the running back position. Andy Reid as the head coach for the Kansas City Chiefs and Eric Bieniemy as the offensive coordinator is a great combo. Kansas City’s defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has a very underrated defense to work with this season.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are currently the top of the AFC North Standings, thanks to Lamar Jackson. He is their starting quarterback and has been electrifying so far this season for them. Baltimore has talent on this roster, and they will be in the Super Bowl conversation because of him. The only issue with the Ravens is their pass defense and also the lack of wide receivers on the outside.
Baltimore has a really good running game with J.K. Dobbins. Their top wide receiver target is Mark Andrews, who is one of the best tight ends in the league. The defense can stop the run, but they lack a massive pass rush. Head coach John Harbaugh is one of the best in the business, and they are going to win a lot of games during the regular season, and anything will go for them once the playoffs hit.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers are one of the top wild card teams in the AFC at the current moment, and they act like a total wild card themselves. Los Angeles has talent on both sides of the football, but they have too many key injuries. Wide receiver Keenan Allen and defensive end Joey Bosa is out due to injury.
Quarterback Justin Herbert and head coach Brandon Staley are both keeping their football team afloat in the standings, and they could be very dangerous once they get everyone healthy and they all return. Los Angeles was talked about as one of the top teams in the AFC coming into this season to potentially challenge the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. It remains to be seen.
Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans are a well-coached football team by Mike Vrabel and captained by Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, and the defense.
