Summers are the most highly anticipated time of the year for kids. It is a time when they have no care of the world. The only thing on their agenda is to have fun.
There’s another thing that adds to the summer’s charm – summer camps. Every year, many kids go to summer camps as part of the After School Programs. It provides them with an opportunity to be away from home and enjoy in the absence of any parental figures.
This article enlists seven different activities you (as a parent or School’s event coordinator) can conduct in your summer camp. Not only will they keep the children entertained, but children of all age groups will also love them.

Nothing compares to the joy of having a field day in your summer camp. You kids will be happy, and you will have plenty of fun too. A field trip is like a small picnic that doesn’t take much special equipment to organize.
You can take the children out in the yard or the nearby park and conduct numerous outdoor activities. These activities include Potato Sack Race, Lemon Race, Three-Legged Race, and many other games that the children might enjoy.
To make things more organized, you can divide the children into groups and build stations for different games. Then, once the air horn in the yard sounds, the children will be switching their game.
Water Balloon Dodgeball
Dodgeball is a famous game among kids. So why not switch it up a little and add water balloons to the mix rather than balls?
It will exhilarate the kids and would prove to be an entertaining activity – especially on one of those burning summer days.
After all, who doesn’t like to be showered with cold water in the middle of the burning sun’s heat?
A Talent Show
Every kid loves to exhibit what they are good at and garner some appreciation. So it might be a good idea to conduct a talent show during your summer camp.
The children can display their talents in this show like singing, dancing, poetry writing, drawing or anything!
But, of course, there might be some shy children who might not feel comfortable participating in this activity.
To encourage them, employ some counselors who might try and encourage them to come out of their shells.
Build an Erupting Volcano
Children always love witnessing the subtle magic of science at play. Building an erupting volcano might be just the way to bring their fantasies to life.
All you need is a water bottle, some baking soda, vinegar, and a pinch of dirt. Then, you are good to go. Build that erupting volcano and relish in the awed expressions of the children once they see this scientific miracle in real life.
Indoor Games Day
Nature is as unpredictable as ever. One day the sun is shining bright, and the next day, it is raining cats and dogs. So you should always keep Indoor Games Day for one of those rainy days.
You can make the kids play carrom, scrabble, snakes and ladders, and ludo. On a more creative side, have them make their version of different indoor games from the things they can find lying around in the cabin
Children and Gardening
Children naturally gravitate towards soil and dirt. Why not use this to your advantage? Purchase some seeds and make the kids sow them in the yard.
Let children take care of these plants as long as they are there in the summer camp. This activity will inculcate a sense of responsibility and sensitivity towards the environment.
The kind of activities you conduct at your summer camp will determine how much fun the kids have during their summers. So make sure you incorporate all the fun activities mentioned in this into your schedule.
