In April 2020, the Food and Drug Administration permitted using KN95 masks for hospital and medical purposes. It also allows different KN95 masks for medical purposes. 

Although the National Institute disapproves of the KN95 mask of Occupational Health because it does not match the standards of the U.S.A, it matches the Chinese government’s standards. Later it is accepted by the FDA.

Is KN95 Mask Protect you from COVID-19? 

KN95 mask is not designed specifically for the protection from the viral infection. It is used for the protection from dust particles and pollutants. After a shortage of N95 masks, it is recommended to use KN95 as an alternative to N95 masks.

Is KN95 Mask reusable? 

Yeah, even if the mask was not made for reuse, you can reuse a KN95 mask. As long as the mask itself has not been affected in any way, the KN95 mask will continue to be used. Also, KN95 can only be reused by the same person to prevent any viral infection from the spread.

KN95 mask – Washable or not? 

Yes, KN95 masks are washable and can also disinfect. But it does not mean you soak the mask in water and soap. Cloth masks can be rinsed with water and soap and can also sundry. 

For KN95 you can follow these steps –

  • Wash with less amount of soap.
  • Wipe the outer part of the mask.
  • Dry mask properly before using it.

KN95 mask can last as much as it is not damaged. There are some conditions in which you have to discard or throw your mask. Conditions are –

  • Discard your mask if it contains any kind of fluid like blood, nasal, or other respiratory discharge.
  • Discard your mask if you come in contact with any corona infected person. Or with any person who has minute symptoms.
  • If you can not breathe properly in your mask, then immediately discard your mask.
