I’m a big fan of sandals. I tend to wait until the weather gets warm before even thinking about buying new sandals, though. That’s because there are so many options out there for summer sandals for women, and finding just the right pair can be time-consuming!

However, once you know what kind of foot shape you have and what types of footwear work best for your situation, you should be able to find an amazing pair that makes your feet look great while they’re also comfortable enough for any occasion.

So let’s talk about how to find the perfect pair of ladies’ sandals for the warmer months.

One in particular I want to mention because of their range of styles and eco-friendly ethos, Earth Spirit which recently rebranded to Free Spirit. You can read all about that transition and why Free Spirit here. I follow this brand as I love their sandals.

Why?

I know Earth Spirit for their comfortable designs that are made of sustainable materials. They have a wide variety of styles, so there’s something for everyone!

Furthermore, they’re handmade with love in Bali, so they’re not only stylish but sustainable and eco-friendly as well. Plus, you can choose from a wide range of styles and colours, from basic black leather sandals to bright red suede heels. Free Spirit sandals are the perfect summer accessory, and a great start as you seek summer sandals for women.

Here are a few things to consider when picking out your next pair of Ladies sandals

1. The sole: If you’re going to be doing a lot of walking or hiking, you’ll want to make sure your sandals have good traction. Look for shoes with solid soles that are made from non-slip materials like rubber or synthetic leather. Or try out Free Spirit sandals who use water-based glues, vegetable tanned leathers and recycled materials.

2. The heel height: A higher heel will allow your feet to breathe better than a lower one, but if you’re going on hikes or long walks, it may be more comfortable if they are lower-heeled so they don’t rub against your Achilles tendon.

3. The width of the shoe: If your feet are wide, look for shoes with a wider toe box; if they’re narrow, look for narrow shoes instead!

3. Make sure the straps are adjustable so you can get a custom fit.

4. Consider how much arch support you need.

Get your measurements right

Before you can choose the right sandal for your feet, you need to know your foot type. Your foot type is determined by several factors:

  • Foot width,
  • Foot length,
  • Arch type,
  • Instep type,
  • Heel shape and height from the ground (or heel height),
  • Toe shape and size,
  • Foot shape,
  • Toe height from the ground.

You can ask Elevate Your Sole in their stores about these measurements and gain help in selecting the perfect sandals.

If it’s hot out, your best bet is to invest in a pair of sandals with good ventilation. You don’t want your feet sweating all day long! If it’s cold, opt for insulated shoes that will keep your toes warm and cozy. In Britain, one day it’s warm, the next… who knows?

And if there’re windy conditions forecasted for the time of year, you’re shopping for sandals, look for ones that offer excellent wind resistance.

Think about what you’ll be wearing

Can you wear them with

-a dress or a skirt?

-a pair of jeans?

-a pair of shorts?

Do the colours match or do you like splashes of colour?

My suggestion here for colour mixes in your attire is to buy summer sandals for women with a thin sole and a one-strap design. They’ll give you plenty of support without weighing down your feet too much. Pick a pair with an array of colours so they’ll match just about any outfit!

Choose Comfort First

Before purchasing your sandals, make sure that your feet fit properly. Try on the sandals in the afternoon or evening, when your feet are swollen because of standing and walking throughout the day. You should be able to comfortably wear them for at least an hour without pain or discomfort.

If you feel any pressure on the back of your heel when wearing a pair of sandals or flip-flops, it is likely too small for your foot and may cause blisters.

Let’s look at a summary of these tips in a quick 3 steps outline

For the warmer months, you’ll want to choose ladies sandals that are lightweight, comfortable, and supportive.

Lightweight: Look for ladies sandals with a thin sole so they’re easy to carry around.

Comfortable: Ladies sandals should be easy to slip on and off when you need to take them off quickly. A wide opening will make it easier to get your feet in and out.

Supportive: Look for a pair of ladies sandals with arch support so you don’t end up with sore feet by the end of the day!
