Since its first successful launch on Kickstarter in 2013, Pebble has improved its smartwatch with its basic design and limited functionality, so let’s take a look at Pebble Steel and see if it needs to be improved.
Check out the first Pebble Smartwatch we’re looking at to understand the concept of best smartwatches 2022.
Design
If the original Pebble Retro style doesn’t suit everyone, Pebble Steel chooses a better, more attractive material, which now looks great with suits and casual wear, and looks exactly like the original in design. Now it looks even more beautiful and cute.
The case is solid, covered with metal (brush or matte color), leather or metal straps with black edges around the screen.
Stainless steel is 1.5 × 1.4 × 0.4 inches and weighs 1.95 ounces, so it is slightly smaller and slightly heavier than the original. On the left we find a nice magnetic charging port (not compatible with the original rocker) and a “back” button for the cable.
On the right are 3 more buttons, which we use to select and select.
If you don’t want a smart watch that looks like a toy or a science movie, Pebble Steel is the best choice because its design is big, discrete, solid.
Display
Pebble Steel’s 1.26-inch 144 × 168 pixel electronic paper display protects against gorilla glass (which reduces the glare effect) from scratching. In addition, the display is very similar to the display on the original stone, which has a monochrome LCD and backlight (perfect for reading in sunlight).
As mentioned earlier, you need to use four buttons to navigate the menu, and we found that the menu is clear and intuitive and the navigation is simple and dotted (as in the previous model).
Pebble Steel does not feature a touch screen. While some may find it an advantage, jumping on the small screen can be difficult and difficult, while others are not equal to other smartwatches that show this option.
Activity and battery life
Pebble Steel’s ATM5 waterproof standard is the same, so you can swim up to 165 feet in both salt and clear water, and apparently you can bathe in it (be careful when choosing a bracelet).
The processor is a 120MHz ARM M3 Cortex that can easily run only applications and games.
Battery life has not been significantly reduced as an important basis. With a capacity of 7 days, it embarrasses all the smart watches in the market that can last only one or two days.
iOS and Android
Like the original Pebble Smartwatch, Pebble Steel is compatible with iOS and Android and connects via Bluetooth.
Compatibility with two operating systems is a breeze, and you’ll be presented with a highly organized and convenient list of applications (and the new AppStore!).
Like all other smartwatches, with Pebble Steel you can send SMS, email, answer calls, play music or leave the track, schedule appointments and receive notices.
One downside is that there can be no more than 8 applications at a time, so if you are tired of the clock or need a new application, you always have plenty of space, but with Pebble Locker you Can save applications. Easy on your phone, keep it on the watch.
When testing with Android OS and iOS, we had a lot of applications, synchronization was stable, no problem, and the experience is just as real as Pebble.
Result
Pebble Steel still stands out as the best smartwatch despite the stiff competition between Android and iOS, but that’s because of its longevity. We are still waiting for another smartwatch to take advantage and try to win the crown.
