Whether you’re a native of the state or your visiting for the first time there are thousands of opportunities you could choose to enjoy in the beautiful evergreen state. Whether you’re here for a week or just staying an extra day or two after a business trip, here’s our list of the top things to do.
- Outdoor Recreation
Outdoor activities are probably at the top of the list of things to enjoy in Washington. No matter what part of the state you’re in there are easy art walks, amazing national parks and wilderness areas to enjoy. If you love to hike, cycle, kayak, ski, fish, and more then make sure you research the opportunities closest to you.
- Pike Place Market
While this only applies for visits to the Seattle area, it’s really something that you should add to your list of places to visit. There are dozens of merchants and shops to check out, and vendors offer some of the best produce and fresh flowers you’ll be able to find. If you’re looking for that classic view, don’t forget to check out the fish market and take a turn catching one.
- Wine Tasting
Washington has been rising in popularity for wine enthusiasts with Woodinville, located just south of Seattle and Walla Walla being two of the top places to enjoy the offerings of the various wine regions. While Woodinville offers some great tasting opportunities, if you can swing a few days we highly recommend venturing east to Walla Walla. There are over 120 wineries in the area and many of the tasting rooms overlook the vineyards which provides stunning views.
- Take a Ferry
Washington State is home to the largest ferry fleet in the U.S. and ferry boat rides are one of the things that makes Seattle so unique. There are lots of great destinations you can travel to from Seattle from towns on islands both large and small. Bring your car or go by foot depending on your plans for the day.
