Audience

Nothing is worse than providing entertainment or services to people who don’t understand or want this experience. If you have ever been in this position, let’s make sure it doesn’t happen again. Ask yourself who will be your guests and what are they interested in.

Beginning with a theme can help shape your audience as well. If you are throwing an event for your book club, your theme should follow this. Your audience is known and your theme can be based on this or vice versa.

Identify Your Goal

As stated above, either your guests or your theme comes first. If ultimately you are looking to create engagement within your business, your community, or other organization, you will want to keep this in mind when creating your event.

For example, if you decide you would like to have an event for your church, your audience is going to be those that attend the church. Your goal is to get more people in your community involved in the church. Therefore, you have all types of people as your target audience.

You want to make sure that you can appeal to those who are not currently in the church just as much as those who are already involved. So what is something that can bridge your church group with potential churchgoers? You have to find entertainment that will appeal to both groups of people.

Ask yourself, what does everyone love? Music? Movies? Comedy? All good choices but let’s say you land on hiring a Christian comedian. You can look for a comedian available that isn’t going to necessarily talk about religion, but just keeps things politically correct.

On the other hand, maybe you are looking to bring together those who have a certain level of dedication to their religion. If that’s the case, look for a comedian who can focus their set around more of a Christian theme.

Proper Marketing

Once again, knowing your audience is key to properly marketing your event. Sticking with the church event, you can market your event all across your community where your audience visits. Most churchgoers are regular folks so don’t overthink this.

You won’t want to go posting fliers at other churches that are not affiliated to yours, that won’t get you very far. A good choice is your local grocery store, your local library, or post an advertisement in the paper.

Additionally, word of mouth will get you quite far! Tell your church community to bring their friends and loved ones. Tell the friends and loved ones to invite people as well. Planning all of these small details will be beneficial to executing success.

Cater to Your Entertainer

Whatever kind of entertainment you decide for your event, make sure the performers have everything they need. Most entertainers have their items if they need additional props so that is not something you should worry about.

However, you should make sure that your entertainer knows exactly how the flow of the event will go, knows who they are performing to, and knows where they will be doing their performance.

If you have a band coming to play at your church event, they should be fully aware that this is an event on behalf of the church community. The last thing you’ll want to see happen at your party is your entertainer and your audience on different pages.

As the title states, it’s important to know your audience or your event goal is going to be a miss. If it’s a miss, you’ll waste time, money, and resources that you cannot get back. For success, know your entertainer and your audience.
