3 WAYS TO KEEP BABY'S SKIN NOURISHED3 WAYS TO KEEP BABY'S SKIN NOURISHED

A newborn baby’s skin is very delicate and susceptible to damage. If you want the baby’s skin to be smooth and supple, you, as parents, will have to put extensive care into it. Babies have a relatively weak immune system when they are born.

Hence parents are obligated to use products and routines that prevent any damage. Aveeno baby products present a list of several goods that are a must-have in the nappy bag. Parents can also adapt a massage routine for their toddlers. It stimulates blood flow and keeps the skin supple and glowing.

It is essential to use products that are gentle and safe. Employing clean and organic products early on will maintain the skin’s quality. Aveeno baby products are designed to provide silky soft skin for your babies. Moisturising is exceedingly essential.

MAINTAINING BABY SKIN

1) Use natural products for skincare

The newborn baby possesses a temporary covering known as vernix. After their birth, babies tend to have wrinkly skin. The parents must avoid peeling the vernix forcefully. It sheds on its own. If the baby is born due post date, the chances are that the vernix has already been cleared.

Stick to minimal products and refrain from going overboard. Use products that are made es[ecially for babies, such as fragrance-free shampoos, bath gels, and lotions. Be conscious of how the baby’s skin reacts to these products. If they get breakouts or rashes, they are probably allergic.

Never skip moisturizing. It helps in locking in the moisture and keeping the skin supple. The thicker the moisturizer, the better. As aforementioned, newborn babies have dry skin.

2) Bathing instructions

Do not bathe the baby excessively. The frequency should be three times a week in the first year. Over the top, baths will strip the skin of natural oils present to shield the skin. These baths should be held in warm water, not hot.

The baby bath’s most crucial step is finding the correct temperature and filling the bathtub with 2-3 inches of water. During the bath, pour cupfuls of water to prevent the baby from feeling cold.

Subsequently, dip a cloth in soapy water and gently scrub the baby’s body with it. Use shampoo. Clean their face with a tiny cotton ball by dabbing. Before lifting the baby out of the bath, carefully support their body and extract. Wrap them in a hooded towel and dry. Post that, smear plenty of body lotion all over their body to avoid dry skin. Using excessive soap may cause dryness and aggravate eczema.

3) Master the diaper change

The biggest hurdle faced by new parents is diaper change. It is a constant measure that seems to go in a loop. The process involves changing diapers and using baby wipes each time. But it is crucial to remember specific steps to avoid diaper rashes.

After removing the diaper, apply diaper cream or warm water to the baby’s bottom passageway. Be gentle and wait for it to dry. After a few moments, air-dry avoids any moisture block that can cause a pesky rash. Be wary while selecting the diaper.

If a baby incurs these rashes, they are caused by wet diapers. It can also happen if the baby’s bottom has not been dried appropriately after the bath. Seldom, yeast infections can also trigger a baby’s rash. These stem from the medication consumed by the babies. It prompts fungal growth. To prevent falling prey to such fiascos, keep in mind to-

  1. A) Keep a regular check on the diapers
  2. B) Change them as soon as they get wet or soiled
  3. C) Wash the bottom passageway with a mild cleanser or plain water.
  4. D) Use tender cloth instead of baby wipes. Steer clear of wipes that possess alcohol or perfume.
  5. E) Pat the area dry. Refrain from rubbing it because that further irritates the skin.
  6. F) Apply a hefty layer of petroleum jelly as a protective ointment. You can also use other creams like Desitin, A&D, or Boudreaux’s.

Consult a Paediatrician if the rash continues. It could be a severe condition that needs effective medication.

CONCLUSION

The baby’s skin routine also differs from the weather. Winters are a significant time to amplify skincare and install a cool-mist humidifier in the baby’s room. During summers, the routine is different, which requires more loose clothing and a hat to shield the baby from the sun. Baby skincare is also contingent on the type of fabric used. Avoid using synthetic materials. Stick to natural fabrics.
