5 Testosterone Effects and How to Boost It

The male sexual hormone is testosterone. It can be found in both genders and in many different species. Testosterone does a lot of different things in the body, like improving sexual and physical health, affecting metabolism and behaviour, and a lot more.

It is important to know what makes this hormone go up or down and when levels are too high or too low for your body.

Testosterone: Getting Started

The male sexual hormone is testosterone. Adult men make it in their testicles, and women make it in their ovaries. This steroid hormone has big effects on how sexuality develops, how the body looks, and how people act.

The spread of illness can be caused by too much or too little of this hormone, and both diet and behaviour can affect its stages.

Effects of Testosterone

1) Why does puberty happen?

Even though T grows at some point before puberty, a big jump happens around age 10. During the early stages of puberty, it will go through the roof. Increasing testosterone can cause puberty to start early and can also speed up the process for kids whose puberty has been delayed.

Experiments on animals have shown that testosterone is important for proper brain development, especially before birth and in early childhood.

Obesity, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and insulin resistance are all linked to low testosterone. Men who were 26 years old and were given testosterone had less total fat mass and more fat-free mass.

In a study of 39 men with type 2 diabetes and low bioavailable T levels, testosterone replacement therapy made their bodies look better. In some other tests, testosterone alternatives made the metabolic profile of 32 men with low testosterone better.

Men with a baseline T level of 12 nmol/L can have healthy sex, sexual pressure, and erections at night. Two meta-analyses show that increasing testosterone above the obvious baseline does not keep these traits from growing.

Treatment for men with low testosterone, on the other hand, helps to fix these problems and improve things like bone mineral density and body composition (see above). This was shown in two medical trials with almost 400 men.

In a scientific trial, 34 premenopausal women with low libido and low testosterone levels who were given testosterone therapy felt better about their health, mood, and sexuality. In two studies involving 150 menopausal women, oral and vaginal testosterone and oestrogen improved sexual function. In a scientific study with 71 women who had their uterus removed, treatment with testosterone led to better sexual characteristics, less body fat, and more energy.

In a scientific study with ninety overweight men, doing high-volume, low-intensity aerobic exercise for at least 200 minutes per week led to huge improvements in sexual health and testosterone levels. It can make dopamine transporters (DAT) and vesicular monoamine transporters (VMAT) more active in young rats, which lets dopamine change their sexual preference. This neurotransmitter could be one way that testosterone works.

4. Increases the density of bone minerals

Male osteoporosis is linked to low testosterone. A meta-analysis of 29 scientific studies and over 1,000 men found that testosterone made the bone mineral density in the spine better.

In a scientific study with 57 women who had gone through menopause, testosterone therapy stopped bone loss and increased bone mineral density in the hips.

5. Lowers the chance of getting heart disease

A meta-analysis of 29 clinical trials with 1,000 men showed that testosterone lowers cholesterol overall. Testosterone and cholesterol have been known for a long time to be oppositely related. This gives a possible explanation for why these two people are dating each other backwards.

The hormone may also stop the growth of atheromas, which are arteries that have been damaged by plaque, and the progression to acute coronary syndrome.

What causes a rise in testosterone?

1. Exercise

Compared to 2 hours of exercise per week, 4 hours of moderate exercise (57–70% of maximum coronary heart rate) per week increased testosterone in 90 overweight men by 250%. Giving natural lactate, which comes from working out, had the same effect.

Clinical tests with 41 people have shown that resistance training is mostly effective.

2. Diets High in Protein and Healthy Fat

It was made longer by eating a lot of protein and taking oleuropein, a supplement that is found in extra-virgin olive oil. Using 300% more of it in rats at the same time as cutting cortisol in half,

T-tiers are lower in people who eat less fat.

3. Getting rid of stress

In two studies with 24 men, testosterone levels went down when cortisol levels were unusually high.

4. Getting a better night’s sleep

In an observational study of more than 1,300 men, having low levels of testosterone was linked to not being happy with sleep.

In a study of 12 men, sleeping five hours a night was linked to a 15% drop in this hormone, while sleeping only four hours was linked to a borderline lack of the hormone.

5. Getting More Vitamin D

In an observational study of more than 2,000 men, high levels of vitamin D were linked to higher levels of testosterone. In a study of 165 young to middle-aged men who were overweight and deficient, adding this diet (3,000 IU per day) made them 25% healthier.

You can get more of this vitamin from the food you eat, take supplements, or get a little sun.

6. Taking vitamin and mineral supplements

In medical trials, t-levels went up when the following nutrients and minerals were taken as supplements:

  • Zinc
  • Calcium
  • Boron
  • Magnesium,
  • Vitamin B9

7. Using an accelerator
