Laptops are so useful and convenient, that many of us nowadays couldn’t imagine being without one. Portable, lightweight and able to do everything a PC can, laptops give you instant access to documents, videos, photos and much, much more. Plus, if you need to work during your daily commute, you can simply open your laptop up on the train and start tapping away!

With this in mind, it makes it even more frustrating when your laptop stops working and you’re unable to use it properly, if at all. Issues with the screen being broken are among the most common, and often render it unusable until you fix it or Replace Your Laptop Screen. In some instances, it’s more cost-effective to buy a new laptop than it is to repair or replace the screen. But how do you know which option applies to your laptop?

Firstly, check whether anything else on the laptop is broken

When a laptop screen breaks, it’s important that you check whether everything else is working as it should. The best way to do this is to connect the device to a television or external monitor. If everything else appears to be functioning as normal, you can return your focus to the broken screen. If you’ve detected other problems, a further check from a computer repair company will help you determine the extent of the damage.

Check the manufacturer’s warranty

Ideally, the manufacturers warranty for your laptop will still be valid, in which case you can use it to replace the screen. If it is no longer valid, however, there are a couple of things you can do:

  • Contact the manufacturer

If you’re going to need to replace your laptop screen, it can be helpful to get a clearer picture of how much it’s likely to cost, and the manufacturer is in the best position to give you this information. You can also carry out some research online.

  • Repair the screen yourself

This really isn’t recommended, especially without seeking a professional opinion as to what the specific problem is, first. If you’re familiar with the technical workings of laptops, then replacing the screen may be a viable option, but for the average person, replacing a cracked or broken screen is way beyond their capabilities. Add that to the fact that you may cause even more damage to the laptop while carrying out a DIY repair, and it simply doesn’t make it worht it in the long run.

It’s important also to note that warranties may become invalid once a device has been repaired or opened up by anyone other than an authorized, qualified party such as a laptop repair company.

  • Get the screen replaced by professionals

Whatever kind of problem your laptop is experiencing, seeking a professional opinion is always advisable, even if you believe it to be something you can easily fix yourself.

How your laptop screen is replaced will depend on the model and manufacturer, but a laptop repair company will have the expertise to do it confidently, and ensure that it’s in god working order before it’s returned to you.

Laptop screen repairs or replacements are often possible if a screen is cracked or broken, making it unnecessary to fork out for a brand new laptop, phew! However, a professional opinion is always best sought, as this can save you money in the long run, and help you get the most life out of your indispensable laptop.
