In a few days, the Los Angeles Auto Show will open, and among the many vehicles that will be on display, Infiniti will be
presenting for the first time its “most advanced and technologically advanced model to date”. Not surprisingly, this is the
new Infiniti QX50!
Under the hood hides the world’s first mass-produced variable compression ratio engine, the VC-Turbo, which is expected since
2016 and the Japanese manufacturer calls it a “real breakthrough in combustion engine design”. This 2.0-liter turbocharged
gasoline engine is able to adjust its compression ratio, to optimize both power and efficiency, giving it the same torque as
an equivalent four-cylinder diesel engine: Infiniti announces a power of 272 horses and 380 Nm of torque.
The 0 to 100 km / h is swallowed in just 6.3 seconds in 4-wheel drive (6.7 seconds in front-wheel drive), with a top speed of
230 km / h. Although consumption has not yet been approved, the new VC-Turbo engine should consume on average on the QX50 8.7
liters / 100 km in front wheel drive, and 9.0 liters / 100 km with the all-wheel drive. The QX50 offers an energy efficiency
improvement of 35% compared to the V6 gasoline of previous generation (30% in 4WD version). This new engine will be combined
with an X-Tronic continuously variable gearbox.
The Infiniti QX50 2018 is based on a new platform 23% stiffer than the previous generation, which allows him to offer more
living space on board. This new SUV measures 4.69 meters long and 1.9 meters wide, while the trunk volume increases from 895
liters (SAE) to 1048 liters with the advanced rear seat, while reaching 1699 liters once the seats rear folded.
Equipped with the new ProPILOT Assist system that is also found on the Nissan X-Trail, the Infiniti QX50 allows, at the touch
of a button, to assist the driver to control acceleration, braking and steering when driving on a single lane on the highway.
No information has been released on pricing or timing for the moment, but the new Infiniti QX50 is expected to be released in
early 2018, following a presentation at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which will open its doors today. from 1st to 10th of
December 2017.
