Pure Punjabi by heart Rakul Preet Singh was born on 10th October 1990 in New Delhi. She hails from an army background and has completed all her schooling from Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan. She has always been a studious and intelligent student. After her schooling, she pursued her degree in Mathematics from Jesus and Mary College under Delhi University.
She is a fitness freak and she works out six days a week. No matter where she is, she never missed her gym session. In one of her interviews, Rakul stated, “I enjoy the whole process of sweating out. If I don’t work out two or three days straight, I start feeling very lethargic, it feels incomplete”

During her modelling days when she was offered a role in Kannada Movie Gilli, she accepted the offer to earn little extra pocket money.
