To pursue his education, Preda joined the Mihaly Táncsics Grammar School and then enrolled in Budapest Business School, from where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Finance. This was followed by the government-sponsored scholarship to study international business management at Hanzehogeschool Groningen, Netherlands, in 1990.
In 1991, Preda stepped into the business world and started to work as an auditor for KPMG Peat Marwick McLintock, United Kingdom, but soon he resigned from KPMG to join the EBRD after earning his Chartered Accountancy from the ICAEW. After assisting the bank with structured debt financing and equity projects from 1994 to 1997, Preda was appointed as the head of trade finance and bond issues origination at ABN AMRO. In a short period, he became the ABN AMRO (Magyar) Bank’s spokesperson and secretary of the board and, later, took over ABN AMRO’s Corporate Finance operations in Hungary.
After earning the certification of Certified Financial Analyst from the CFA Institute, Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1997, he founded the CFA Society Hungary and served as the first and third president from years 2000 to 2005. In December 2003, Preda became the first president of the M&A CEE Network after coordinating and initiating its establishment. In 2016, he assisted and initiated MACEE in the process of its merger with global peer IMAP and represented MACEE on the IMAP board from 2007 to 2011.
In addition, Preda established and served as the managing partner of IMAP MB Partners. Apart from helping owners, entrepreneurs, and managers in selling and acquiring businesses in Hungary, he helped the company close more than thirty acquisition deals. In addition to acting as a chairperson and speaker for Vistage International, Preda also served as an executive coach and facilitated two Vistage Private Advisory Boards for CEOs and business owners in the Richmond Metro area. Additionally, Preda has also trained medium and small-size organization leadership groups as a licensed EOS Implementer.
