Frequently Asked Questions:

Question: What type of compressor is needed for the a9600?
Answer: I’ve got a little Porter-Cable pancake style unit that I purchased along with a framing gun about 5 or 6 years ago and I’m not sure exactly what the specs are. If your compressor puts out a minimum of 90 psi, you’ll be fine. The larger tank allows you more time before the pump recycles to fill it up. Hope this helps.

Question: Will it go into plywood?

Answer: Sure. You’re only limited by the strength of the T50 staples (the same ones you’d use in a hand-powered non-pneumatic stapler). Whatever you can get a staple into without bending it will work. It’s not that it’s more powerful, but it’s far more convenient and saves a tremendous amount of time for craft projects without leaning on the hand stapler for each staple. I also found the bump-fire action (just like a roofing nailer) makes fast work of light upholstery projects like padded window valances. I own an 18 gauge narrow crown stapler for carpentry, this is not that kind of tool you won’t be driving 1″ staples with it. But the T50s are wide and work well for holding fabric over foam into, yes, plywood.

particle board, make sure your compressor recovers pressure after a few hits.

Question: I have a 1/5hp air compressor. Will this staple gun work with that?
Answer: It should, but there’s a variety of factors, such as the hardness of surface you’re stapling into and lenght staple (and how many staples/minute you apply). I just used mine with a small Campbell-Hausfeld compressor (3 gallon/2 amps- no HP rating) to staple fabric to wooden chairs using 5/8″ staples and it worked great. As long as your compressor can deliver 80-90 psi it should be fine.

Question: Is there a swivel available to fit between the staple gun and air hose?
Answer: I use a Quick Connect Couplings on both the air compressor and the tool end, the Air Hose is flexible. Don’t know of any Swivel Joints that are available. The Quick Connect Couplings allow the Air Tools to rotate and not cause twists.
