PENNSYLVANIA — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued in Eastern Pennsylvania ahead of a Saturday storm expected to bring a wintry mix of snow and sleet.
Freezing rain is expected Saturday afternoon and into the night. Precipitation is expected to taper off by early Sunday morning. The advisory is in place from 1 p.m. Saturday through 10 a.m. Sunday.
The wintry precipitation is expected to begin around 1 p.m. in Philadelphia and as late as 3 p.m. for the suburbs to the north.
Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half-inch is possible.
Parts of the southern Poconos, Lehigh Valley and Berks County will see snow, which will mix with sleet at night.
This is the first of several systems that will affect the region with potential wintry precipitation into the new week, forecasters with the weather service said. “The main periods we are concerned about are Monday night into Tuesday and again Wednesday night through Friday,” according to the latest storm briefing from that agency.
