This procedure provides you with smoother skin and can be done to treat all skin problems including skin acne, damaged skin due to the sun, and many more. Microdermabrasion is not the right choice for the following issues:

  • Eczema
  • Fragile capillaries
  • Warts
  • Active acne
  • Dermatitis
  • Psoriasis
  • vascular lesions
  • Lupus
  • Uncontrolled diabetes
  • Active rosacea
  1.   Check the cost:

Before having this treatment, you must know about the cost and make up your mind accordingly to get proper treatment without any worries. In the USA, the average cost of this treatment is $137, but in Asian countries, it can be as low as $15 to $40 to get the desired results.

  1.   Quit smoking:

Microdermabrasion enables the flow of blood for glowing results, whereas smoking inhibits blood flow. So if you are a smoker, quit smoking at least six months before or a year before having this treatment. Also, consult your doctor in case you’re a drug addict.

  1.   Quite using Tretinoin:

If you’re taking Tretinoin pills then you cannot use microdermabrasion for six months at least. Otherwise, it will result in scarring after treatment and would not fulfill your desires. Also, talk to your doctor if you are taking Tretinoin pills.

  1.   Usage of exfoliating creams and tanning creams:

Do not Retin-A or exfoliating creams 1 to 3 days before your treatment. Also, make sure that you haven’t used any tanning cream or scrub at least a week before this treatment. It would help if you also refrain from waxing or tanning the skin to be treated.

  1.   Avoid Skin treatments:

Make sure you haven’t done laser surgery and Accutane 2 to 3 weeks before your treatment; otherwise, results can be worst. Other skin treatments like facials, waxing, electrolysis, tweezing should not be done before microdermabrasion. Do tell your doctor about your all recent treatments before your appointment.

  1.   Avoid taking NSAIDs:

If you’re a drug addict, stop them, or if the doctor prescribed this to you then talk to your doctor before having treatment. These drugs will result in bleeding and rashes after treatment. NSAIDs include the following medicines:

  • Aspirin
  • Indomethacin (Indocin)
  • Ibuprofen
  • Celecoxib (Celebrex)
  • Naproxen (Aleve)

UV radiations coming from the sun damage your skin cells and make your skin more sensitive. So before having your treatment avoid going in sunlight. Microdermabrasion works by peeling away a layer of your skin so that sensitive skin can cause discomfort or other complications.  Use sunscreen even if you are not preparing for microdermabrasion. This will protect your skin, and more healthy the skin is more healthy are results.

  1.     History of cold sores or fever blisters:

If you have an account of fever blisters, talk to your doctor because this can cause the reoccurrence of cold sores and fever blisters. To avoid this situation, your doctor must prescribe your medications before treatment.

  1.   Make your face clean:

Use a lipid free cleaner instead of using soap. These cleaners protect your skin from moisture than a bar of ordinary soap. Cleaners containing glycerin, acetyl alcohol, sodium laurel, stearyl alcohol, or sulfate are the correct choices.
