Calculators in the Digital Age: Innovations and Beyond

A calculator is a tool that solves mathematical problems quickly by pressing buttons.  At first, calculators were designed as mechanical devices like the Abacus to solve basic arithmetic. However, in the mid-20th century, electronic calculators were introduced to simplify arithmetic processes. Past calculators were huge machines and nobody took their calculators where they wanted like schools and offices. But in the 1970’s a transformative shift came with the introduction of pocket-size electronic calculators. Further innovations like the emergence of scientific, graphing, and Dot Product Calculator simplify the process of mathematical calculations. Now, software-based calculators such as discriminant calculators are a tremendous technological progress of the 21st century. The continuous progress of technology will lead to further future innovations in calculators.
