FireworksHow To Make Your Fireworks Event Safe And Successful

When the weather starts to turn cold and the days get shorter, one way to brighten up the sky is with fireworks. In the UK fireworks for sale is a pretty common occurrence around this time of year, and many people opt to dazzle their guests at home. However, although beautiful, fireworks can be dangerous. So, to ensure you can wow your crowd safely, here are some top tips to make sure your event goes off with a bang.

Check The Weather

Rain can seem like a real let down and you might think you have to cancel. However, this isn’t always the case. A light drizzle shouldn’t affect the display, and as long as the fuse is kept dry, the firework will still go off. One thing to keep in mind is wind. If the direction of the wind is blowing towards the crowd, you’ve got a big problem.

The gusts can blow the debris towards them, or if a firework isn’t properly secured, it could hit them. To combat this, move where you light the fireworks to a different spot further out. If you’re planning a display, be sure to check the weather forecast and take any precautions necessary.

Don’t Leave Kids Unattended

It goes without saying, but do not whatever you do leave children alone around fireworks. You might think a sparkler is harmless, but they burn very hot and can do a little bare hand a lot of damage. Statistically speaking, most firework accidents happen to children, so make sure they’re always paired up with a responsible adult during the entire event.

Be Careful With Your Location

When choosing where to set off the fireworks, make sure you’re not too enclosed by trees and buildings. You want to be on a hard, flat surface with no flammable objects around you. You also want to think about the people around you and make sure that neighbours are happy with the noise too. When holding a firework event, you want to be sure that not just the people attending are safe, but everyone in the surrounding area is too.

Buy Reputable

You always want to purchase your fireworks from a reputable, legal company. This way you can feel secure in the knowledge that the fireworks will behave exactly as described and you’ll minimise the risk of unexpected injury from faulty ones.

Protect Yourself And Others

When lighting the fireworks, you’ll want to ensure you’ve protected yourself with gloves and goggles. This way if something goes wrong during the lighting, you’ll have your eyes and hands protected at least. You also want to make sure that you aren’t wearing anything that could dangle into the flame like a scarf and set yourself alight. Encourage spectators to also be aware of what they’re wearing and ensure they keep a safe distance.

Keep Pets Away

Most animals do not enjoy fireworks due to the loud, sudden sounds so make sure if you have any pets that they’re kept indoors and away from the display. Make sure that they’re safe in the house too and can’t hurt themselves while trying to hide.

Dispose Safely

Just because the firework is no longer lit doesn’t mean it can’t cause a fire. Make sure you put all used fireworks into a bucket of water before disposing of them. This way you’ll prevent them from reigniting amongst each other and causing damage.

Fireworks are a beautiful way to brighten up the cold winter nights, but without the proper safety precautions, they can become dangerous. Make sure you take the time to plan your event and consider every possible hazard that could occur. By holding your event safely, you can ensure you’ll have a night to remember for all the right reasons.
