Making life independent!

The NDIS financing for people with disabilities to help them live independently in supported independent living.

People who require round-the-clock care in a shared residence are often eligible for SIL financing. It’s there to help pay for the household’s support employees.

It can be challenging to understand how SIL financing works because it typically differs from other sections of the NDIS.

What is the funding mechanism for the Supported Assisted Living programme?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) money is distinct from most NDIS supported independent living.

How the majority of the NDIS budget is allocated

How SIL’s funding is structured

As part of your NDIS supported independent living, you will receive a list of monetary values for each category.

You get to pick your service providers.

You agree to receive assistance by signing up.

You’re given money for SIL in your plan, but there’s no specific dollar amount.

All relevant persons (OT’s, etc.) will contact your Support Coordinator to discuss your situation.

The level of service would be determined by what they say.

Your Support Coordinator will assist you in locating a home that meets your needs.

Your SIL supplier will supply you with an estimate for the entire residence.

It’s paid for by the individual and can be split across the household members.

Each household member will get a quote and a description of their “average week” from a service provider.

The NDIS shall pay for the reasonable and required expenses of SIL, and you’ll never be from our budget for SIL services. This is crucial to remember. It is widespread for the SIL provider to deal directly with the NDIA.

How much money does the SIL get?

The three levels of SIL financing are based on the level the necessary support and the number of persons living in the same environment. Grades 1 through 3 are available, as are the following options:

  • Living arrangements are monitored but not always 24 hours a day.
  • Standard need – includes active support or supervision for the majority of everyday duties, including overnight sleepovers, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Continuous active assistance within all daily duties and managing complex medical demands is provided to the client who has a complex need for frequent service.

How can I obtain financing for Supported Independent Living?

To be eligible for NDIS financing, service or product must be determined by your NDIS consultant to be fair and essential.

You’ll need to explain to your planner why SIL money is fair and required in your situation when you meet with them for your planning meeting.

If there are any pointers, they would be as follows:

Be ready.

A person’s chances of securing the best funding package increase directly proportional to the amount of effort and time they put into their preparation.

Make it crystal clear what you’re saying.

It would help if you remembered that NDIS Planner did not know you before your encounter. Only what you say them will be known. When a need is urgent, you will have to tell your planner about it.
