Hair loss is not only caused by genetic factors, many people are also struggling from non-generic factors that we come across on our daily basis. Are you surprised? See this here.

CAUSES OF HAIR LOSS

Let me walk you through such non-generic causes of hair loss:

  • Autoimmune Disease: this occurs when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks itself. There is a common autoimmune disorder called ‘alopecia areata’. This is due to the white blood cells when it attacks the deepest part of the hair follicle (commonly referred to as the bulb area) resulting in temporary hair loss. After androgenetic alopecia (inherited predisposition for hair loss), alopecia areata is probably the second most common cause of hair loss. A wide range of people affected by alopecia areata first develop one or two small bald patches on their scalp which persist for several months, after treatment they eventually re-grow hair in those areas. Fungal infections on the scalp such as ringworm (tinea capitis), kerion, and favus also result in hair loss. Bacterial infections on the scalp such as folliculitis, furuncles, and carbuncles can also cause thin hair. Another one is skin cancers like metastatic carcinoma and sclerosing basal cell carcinoma may also cause hair loss.
  • Nutritional deficiencies: these are rarely causes of hair loss. Iron deficiency anemia is the most common of all the possible nutritional deficiencies that can cause thinning hair. When it occurs it is more frequently seen in women. Iron deficiency anemia occur as a result of a decreased amount of red blood cells in the blood because of inadequate iron reserves present in the body. Other causes for this condition, including inadequate consumption of iron-containing foods, poor absorption of iron in foods or supplements, and loss of blood.
  • Poisons: Certain poisons may cause hair loss when consumed in less than lethal doses. In most cases, hair loss is one of the first signs of poisoning. Warfarin which is a common ingredient in commercial rat poisons, could cause hair loss when consumed in large amounts by humans. Nevertheless, tt is prescribed in smaller amounts for humans as a medicine used for thinning the blood.
  • Prescription drugs: There are many areas of prescription drugs that present a risk of temporary hair loss as a possible side adverse effect. Chemotherapy drug treatment mostly causes hair loss due to the fact that the drugs target rapidly dividing cells typical of cancer.
  • Other causes includes: Radiation exposure, stress, physical trauma to the scalp, hair loss following childbirth, psychological, hair styling techniques and hair styling products

Supplements that serve clinical tests are recommended to treat all these forms of hair loss. However, not all supplements in the market can be proud of, thus, I recommend Viviscal.
